Stuart Holland was born in Utah in 1991, and after living throughout North America now lives and works in Boise, Idaho. He is a graduate of Boise State University and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in printmaking in 2014.
Following a trip to Peru in early 2015, Stuart’s work took a pointedly different turn; drawing from his experiences working with several Incan and Shipibo shamans in a number of indigenous rituals, including several profound ayahuasca ceremonies, Stuart began a new body of work exploring themes of timeless Light and Darkness and the power of ritual and mysticism. This new body of work, Cimmeria, is the realization of a crossroads where the physical and spiritual realms overlap, a world that lies between an ancient past and an eternal future, a realm where gods become Divine.
The deities that inhabit the desolate wilderness depicted in this Cimmerian realm illustrate a journey seeking a powerful inner stillness amidst a world of entropic chaos.
